About
About the medicine: Tabernanthe iboga is a plant native to Central Africa.
Legend goes, the Pygme people saw a porcupine eating the root bark and did the most peculiar thing, it turned itself and revealed it’s belly and was clearly happy. The Pygme people tried it and discovered it’s mysterious healing affects. They eventually gave it to the Bwiti, an indigenous religious group in Gabon who began using it in spiritual and healing ceremonies. It is believed to provide insights into the nature of existence and guidance in navigating life’s challenges. It is now being researched for it’s therapeutic impact, ability to treat addiction, PTSD, and traumatic brain injury.
Considerations in balancing the sustainable growth of and ethical sourcing of iboga is important as it’s therapeutic affects are becoming more wide known. We work with a Pygme family that grows the medicine in its protected natural habitat sustainably with a Certificate of Origin. We have worked with this family for many years and we are grateful to support each other in this effort to share this healing with the world.
About the guide: I am a psychedelic assisted guide with a decade of experience working with various plant medicines and healing modalities.
I am a therapist in training, pursuing my PhD in Psychology. I live in Northern California and am a first generation American of Taiwanese and Chinese descent. I come from studying and practicing therapy modalities including AEDP, IFS, and Polyvagal theory. I maintain a decade long practice with Vipassana meditation and yoga. My ceremonial and medicine work began in 2018, learning from a Peruvian lineage working with Ayahuasca and a South African Sangoma lineage working with Iboga. I was introduced to and have learned from my two teachers from the Sangoma lineage of South Africa and practice under their supervision.
